We are very fortunate to have this city park only about 15 minutes from our house. Dayton got this one right and it is completely FREE. The boys loved it last summer and it is even more fun this year!

Collin is 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His birthday is today, the picture was taken last week for today's birthday post. Isn't he beautiful!!
When Collin got up this morning he was really cranky, but for some reason *wink* *wink*, his mood changed when saw his birthday present. HMMM??
After he had played with all of his new tools, we made our way downstairs for his special birthday breakfast. I always make the kids something special for breakfast on their birthday. I throw all of the nutrition stuff out the window, and spoil them!! They love it, of course and I love it too. So, I made them french toast on homemade bread with lots of butter, syrup and coolwhip. When Collin saw his yummy breakfast, he grinned and started laughing. It hardly hit his tray before he had most of the whipped cream in his hand, headed for his mouth. They also got to watch tv during breakfast, Collin picked Elmo's World.
I pulled the work bench out of the attic so the tools could be used on something. Collin played forever, until that crazy breakfast caught up with him and I found him like this. :)
After a while, Aunt Megan came over to eat homemade pizza with us for a special birthday lunch. We ate in the backyard and played in the dirt a while. Then it was time for a bath and then straight to bed for a nap.
I am so thankful for such an amazing 2 year old. Collin is now really starting to speak for himself and he is showing a lot more independence. He is a bit of a challenge at times, but he is such a blessing.
I love you Collin!!

"kissing together"
On Sunday, aka Mother's Day, I woke up ill. Even though it was only allergies, I felt terrible!!!! I took a hot bath and then began to get ready for church when I heard the beautiful sound of laughter from my boys across the hall. Then, out of a moment of quiet chattering, Noah yelled out, "Mommy, come look! We are kissing together!" I threw on my robe and opened the door, this is what I saw...
Needless to say this was the best Mother's Day present I could have ever received.
Thanks boys!!

A crafty moment...
Last week I introduced Collin to the wonderful world of finger painting. He loved it! I think he liked painting his belly more than the paper, but he did manage to get some paint on paper. :) Noah, as usual, had a great time too!
I had let the paintings dry for several days and I was trying to decide what to do with all of our new artwork when it occurred to me to hang them with twine and make them into wind catcher's on the porch. I had some glittery snow flakes left over from another project, so we added them for support. So far so good. They have stayed up and seem to be handling our rain just fine.
The boys love to watch their beautiful pieces of art blow in the wind.

The bed
I just wanted to let everyone know that Noah is now in a twin bed. I have been asked several times about his bed situation and I thought I would just write about it. He is using my old bed, which is part of a bunk-bed set. Mom and Dad still have the other bed and some day the boys will be able to enjoy them.

Garage sale bliss!
Okay, before I had kids I was such a snob about what I thought I would buy for my children. Now that we are in the full reality of how expensive these little blessings are, I have a new found appreciation for garage sales. Last year I co-hosted a sale at a friends house during the Centerville community sale (which is going on from today until Sat.), but this year, I got to enjoy it!
I picked my friend Stephany up at 7:25 this morning and we headed to our first sale, minus a couple of stops along the way. I was armed with $30 and the back of my minivan was flat and ready to load up with all of my finds! Well, $17.50 later, I happily ended our adventure with...
~ a "Home Depot" talking tool box ~ complete with accessories and toolbelt
~ a farm toy set
~ a kitchen set ~ "One Step Ahead" ~ with fridge, sink, diswasher, microwave... (not pictured)
~ 2 coloring books
~ 2 new boxes of Crayola crayons
~ Woody from Toy Story
~ Mr Incredible
~ an awesome helicopter
~ Books
~ a Thomas the Train lunch box
~ and much more.
Anyway, it was a blast! By the way, the kids don't know about most of the stuff so it will be fun to surprise them. I finished the outing with a special lunch at McDonald's and a nice visit to one of the parks near our house.
