First day of Homeschooling!

My eager students!! Collin wanted to wear his cowboy shirt and the hat that Aunt Megan gave him for his birthday. Noah wanted to wear his orange shirt, it is one of his favorite colors!

Aaron read this book about going to preschool before the boys went to bed last night and Collin wanted to hold it in his picture.
Noah looks so old to me in this picture. He is getting so big!

I think I look more excited to start school than he does! :)

We started the day with the story of Daniel in the lion's den. After I read the story to them, we talked about it and then I asked the boys to share any prayer requests. Noah wanted to pray for his balls, toys, the firefighter's and police men in a book he could see on the shelf. Collin wanted us to pray that Grandpa would not get sick again. (My dad had a stomach bug last week.)
Next we worked on the letter A. The boys are working on making their "A is for Alligator" puppet.

Our next activity was to practice cutting. Noah worked on cutting long lines, zigzag's and wavy lines. Collin just practiced holding the scissor's and making them work. I decided it would be fun to paste the snips to the onto a flower.

The boys did a beautiful job and now the flowers are hanging in my kitchen windows.

"Seriously, Mom!! Stop taking pictures!"

Noah working on number 1.
We had an amazing first day!! I am so proud of my boys!!

Homeschool room!!

These pictures make me giddy! I cannot tell you how excited I am to begin our homeschooling adventure next Monday. I know this is going to be one of the most difficult things I am going to do in my life, but I also feel confident that God wants me to. I am sure this will be the first of many homeschooling posts. Here we go!

Kings Island

Last Monday we packed the kids in the van for a big surprise!!! Kings Island! If you have spent time with Noah this summer you have probably heard him talking about K I. He even talks about pretending to go there to "fix" roller coaster's with daddy. Well, we surprised them with the fun filled day and my, oh my, was it fun. The boys LOVED, LOVED, LOVED every minute of their time there. My dad joined us for the day and it sure was nice to have an extra set of grown-up hands around. Aaron rode Diamond Back and said it was most likely the smoothest coaster he had ever been on. We spent most of the time in Kiddie land, of course, but we went to Boomerang Bay (the waterpark) for a while and took the elevator to the top of the tower. I forgot how beautiful it was up there. One of the best times of the day for me was riding the Scrambler with the boys. They cracked up the whole time. Noah is quite the dare devil and rode all of the coasters in kiddie land. He even road the "Beastie" (now has a new name, but will always be the Beastie to me!) 3 times. There were no lines to speak of that day, so it worked out well. Collin loved the little cars the most. He got to ride them 2 times while Noah road the Beastie. He didn't seem to mind that he wasn't tall enough to ride everything Noah could. I think he will be able to ride everything next year. It was a wonderful day!!

Collin, so sweet!

So, the kids and I were in the van today and I was dealing with a grumpy Noah. I told him that he needed to make the decision to change his behavior and he asked me to change it for him. I told him that only he could do it. He said that God could do it. I confirmed that he was right and that he should ask God to help him. He said he didn't want to pray, but asked if I would pray for him. I did and then I heard this from my sweet Collin!
"Dear Jesus, thank you for Noah. Help Noah's heart. Thank you for God. Thank you for my dog. Thank you for Mommy. (YAY I made it in there, even if it was after our dog!) Amen."
From the mouths of babes! Thank you God for my beautiful children.

Camping at Cowan Lake

The boys enjoyed the lake.
Putt putt is always a hit!!
Noah actually made a HOLE IN ONE!! on the first hole. Dad's pointers must have helped.
Th most exciting part of our camping trip was... COLLIN LEARNED HOW TO PEDAL HIS BIKE!

I can't wait to get back out there and do it again! It was so great.
